City of the Future
What is the story of City of the Future?
In this course, participants model the City of the Future based on their own ideas, desires, and visions. This requires collaboration – while each child represents a separate area of the city, the urban fabric can only come together through cooperation. Their chosen areas are displayed on individual hexagons, which collectively form the city model.
To make democratic decisions, they elect a mayor and resolve disputes through voting. At the end of the course, they present the completed model at a ceremonial city opening, where they explain how the buildings on their hexagons reflect their ideas.

Build your city of future together!
In the City of the Future course, students step into the roles of urban designers and creators. While working together to shape the city of tomorrow, they learn to use cutting-edge digital fabrication tools and experience the true power of collaboration.
Education 4.0: Our children can build the city of the future
Fun fact: most kids are eager to learn – if they get the right support. For the better part of the last decade, Péter Fuchs, head of development at Maker’s Red Box, has been experimenting with new ways to unleash children’s talent, hidden or otherwise, through maker education.
